Dear Sacramento Plumbing,

I am currently looking to remodel my entire kitchen. I want to get all new appliances and everything. I started shopping around and noticed that there are a ton of styles of everything. I have no idea what I should be getting. I like a lot of styles and am very indecisive. I was wondering if your professional residential plumbers have some advice on what I should buy or what I should be looking for. Is there really a difference between what I buy? I would really appreciate all the help I can get. I am just getting so overwhelmed with all my choices that I no longer know if I even want to remodel my kitchen anymore. Can you please help me figure everything out before I go crazy over here!

Dear Overwhelmed Remodeler,

Remodeling a large room such as a kitchen is quite a large job. Do not worry; you are not the only one that would be overwhelmed with such a task. Most people at one point or another get overwhelmed when they are remodeling and just want to give up. There are a few ways to cut down on your choices though. There are also a few choices that are better than others. We here at Sacramento Plumbing would be happy to help you figure out exactly what you need and what will make your kitchen look great.

First off, you should figure out exactly how much money you plan on spending on the entire project. Once you figure this out, you should start separating that amount so you have a planned amount for each object. This will help so that you only look at fridges or microwaves that are in the price range you plan on sticking with. There are many different brands out there and just by figuring out your budget will cut them down a substantial amount. Once you have your budget in mind, you can start to sort through the brands available to you. Most likely you will find brands that you are not interested in at all. You will most likely find a few brands that fit your style and price range. You can then find matching appliances in these brands and you will know they are in your price range.

Second, you should think about the resell of your home. Unless you just bought your home, you should always think ahead. There are certain types of appliances that will be out of date in the next few years. You should try finding something timeless such as stainless steel. This will automatically add resale value to your home because so many people are looking for it. Also, just because you like a certain color does not mean you should have all of your appliances in that color. Purchasing a bright red fridge is not the best idea unless you have a complete 1950's style kitchen.

We hope these tips help you out a little bit. You best bet is to try finding stainless steel appliances in your specific price range. They are timeless looking and automatically add resale value to your home. What more could you really ask for?
